I studied anthropology in college. I spent a couple months doing fieldwork in Mexico City between my junior and senior years. Broadly, I was interested in the reconciliation of alternative methods of healing with biomedicine. This had me bouncing around to Spiritualist centers, Sun Dance rituals, and the occasional shaman. To make a long story short, I reconsidered the idea of using alternative methods of healing to fix a broken relationship. I pictured a shaman I visited on the outskirts of Mexico City when I wrote this.
